Solar Water PurificationOne technique to purify water is really simple. You take some clear plastic bottles and put them in direct sun for six hours (if sunny) or, if it is cloudy, you will need to leave the bottles out for two days. The ultraviolet rays destroy bacteria. As the water heats up, it makes the reactions speed up.The clear bottles should not be UV resistant. Large bottles are harder to purify than smaller bottles. It is recommended to use the 20 oz size of bottle. The ideal clear water bottle will be PET and that is short for polyethylene terephthalate. This water purification technique is recommended by the World Health Organization.
